 Footpath Problems in Staffordshire

Ploughed and Cropped Paths

This year has seen many Rights of Way obstructed by crops. The problem is widespread throught our county and many complaints have been submitted to the County Council. Even the Staffordshire Way is badly obstructed, in South Staffs District. Unfortunately the Council is taking very little enforcement action. It should be forwarding all complaints to the Rural Payments Agency who penalise farmers for breach of Cross-compliance regulation.

If you encounter paths obstructed by growing crops please report the matter to the County Council. The means to do appear below.

Unfortunately, there are many other problems on some paths in Staffordshire and we would like you to report these as well to the County Council's Footpath Team.

Please report them to:

Development Services Directorate,

Riverway,

STAFFORD

Here is an example -  updated 20th August 2010

A photograph of Bridleway 7 in the parish of Bradley in Stafford Borough. A barbed wire fence was obstructing the bridleway. It was reported to the County Council and it removed a few weeks later by the farmer, and a bridleway gate erected in the fence. The picture was taken on 3rd June 2010.
